Here is how I constructed my collar for my Yoh cosplay ^^ Look around to find a couple of pics.

How to make the collar is a very common question among DW cosplayers. Its not the easiest shape to construct so here is my method.

I had to make one for a friend so I made a tutorial while making the second one. I gave it to her before I could photograph the final step so the last 2 were from my own. Mine was made in a bit of a rush so its not quiiite as neat and has been worn a few times so I may need to consider repairs very soon ^^ Plus some peeps visiting my house last week broke the velcro off despite distinctly telling them to be careful ¬_¬

Just a quick work of warning, some glues make polystyrene melt so you might wanna test a little bit on some scrap first. Uhu glue is one of them as I found out 0_0 I have used Loctite super glue for both and it works a treat!

Feel free to use and send to friends ^^ Let me know if you are gonna put it online somewhere.

Depends on how much paint and PVA glue you want to use. I'd allow 2-3 days depending how many layers you want to use. Thats easily the most time consuming part but the more you do it the better it will look :D

As for the velcro I have used Loctite superglue. With Polystyrene I'd strongly advise you test the glue on a scrap piece as some glues causes it to melt. Been there ^^; Luckily saved it before it became beyond repair thankfully XD

PVA glue is the kind of glue you get in schools. The simple white stuff :) It is used by cosplayers to smooth some materials for a better painting surface and is also used to varnish to make a nice finish and to avoid paint from chipping :) Water it down slightly for a smooth finish. Easy and cheap to find, perfect if you are in a hurry or on a budget.
